John Deere 325G maintenance schedule and service intervals
Updated · Reviewed by Israel Margulies, founder and CEO of High Point GPS
Per John Deere's service interval chart for the 325G, change the engine oil and filter, both fuel filters and the hydraulic oil filter every 500 hours, drain and refill the hydraulic oil and the hydrostatic planetary gear case oil every 1,000 hours, check valve lash at 1,500, and drain and refill the cooling system every 6,000 hours.
What the 325G chart asks for, and how it differs from the 333G
The John Deere 325G is a mid-size compact track loader, a common pick for landscapers, utility contractors and rental fleets who want tracks in a machine that is still easy to haul. It shares its service interval chart with Deere's 320G and 324G wheeled skid steers, with track and planetary items marked for the 325G only.
The 325G chart differs from the bigger 333G in two places that are easy to mix up in a mixed Deere fleet. The hydraulic oil filter is replaced every 500 hours, not with the oil at 1,000, and the hydrostatic planetary gear case oil is drained and refilled every 1,000 hours, after a first change at 50 hours. Track tension and the dust unloader valve are checked every 50 hours on both.
Deere's parts guide for the 325G (PIN 1T0325G___J328658 and later) lists 3.3 gal of Plus-50 II engine oil, 7.0 gal of Hydrau hydraulic and hydrostatic oil, 0.21 gal of GL-5 final drive planetary oil per side at 1,000 hours, and 3.3 gal of Cool-Gard II pre-mix. It recommends fluid samples every 500 hours and says intervals may be adjusted on the results. Check the guide or operator's manual for your PIN.
Typical John Deere 325G maintenance schedule
- Every 10 hours or daily: Check engine oil, coolant and hydraulic oil levels; Lubricate the boom linkage, cylinder pivot points and Quik-Tatch linkage
- As required: Check and clean the cooling package; check the fuel tank breather; Check and drain the primary fuel filter and water separator; drain water from the fuel tank; Replace the primary air filter (the secondary every third primary change); Service the exhaust filter; check the accessory belt, cab filters and steering mistracking
- First 50 hours, then every 50 hours: First 50 hours: drain and refill the hydrostatic planetary gear case oil; Every 50 hours: check and clean the dust unloader valve and check track tension
- Every 250 hours: Take an engine oil sample
- Every 500 hours: Drain and refill engine oil and replace the oil filter; Replace the primary fuel filter and water separator and the final fuel filter; Replace the hydraulic oil filter; Lubricate the steering linkage (if equipped); Take hydraulic oil, planetary gear case oil, fuel and coolant samples
- Every 1,000 hours: Drain and refill the hydraulic oil; Drain and refill the hydrostatic planetary gear case oil; Replace the hydraulic oil reservoir breather and the fuel tank breather; Check coolant condition
- Every 1,500 hours: Check and adjust engine valve lash
- Every 6,000 hours: Drain and refill the cooling system
John Deere 325G daily inspection checklist
- Walk around for leaks and damage
- Engine oil, coolant and hydraulic oil levels
- Boom linkage, cylinder pivots and Quik-Tatch greased
- Attachment locked on the Quik-Tatch
- Cooling package free of debris
- Fuel water separator checked
- Undercarriage cleaned out
- Tracks: tension, cuts, missing lugs
- Rollers and idlers turning, no leaks
- Seat belt and control interlocks
- Lights, horn and back-up alarm
- Hour meter reading recorded
What fails on John Deere 325G track loaders, and how to prevent it
- Hydrostatic planetary gear cases: Leaks or noise from a final drive. Change the oil at 50 hours, then every 1,000, and sample it every 500
- Hydraulic filter: Slow hydraulics or contaminated oil samples. Replace the filter every 500 hours even though the oil goes 1,000
- Tracks and tension: Derailing or fast undercarriage wear. Check tension every 50 hours on a clean undercarriage
- Cooling package: High temperature warnings. Check and clean as required, daily in dust or debris
- Fuel system: Water in fuel warnings. Drain the separator as required and replace both fuel filters every 500 hours
Tracking John Deere 325G track loaders in FleetZap
Set up 325G services as hour-based PM schedules (50, 250, 500, 1,000 hours and up) and FleetZap opens the work order automatically when the hour meter gets there, with the task list from the chart attached.
Put a QR label in the cab for the daily check. Use Deere's 10-hour list: levels plus boom and Quik-Tatch greasing. A failed item opens a repair work order for that machine.
Hours come in from meter readings in the field app or from an optional GPS tracker, and the filters and oil you use go on the work order as parts, so each machine keeps its own service and parts history.

Frequently asked questions
How often do you change the oil on a John Deere 325G?
Every 500 hours, per Deere's service interval chart, with an engine oil sample every 250 hours. Deere's guide lists 3.3 gal (12.5 L) of Plus-50 II engine oil.
What are the John Deere 325G service intervals?
Deere lists daily (10-hour) checks, then 50, 250, 500, 1,000, 1,500 and 6,000-hour services, plus as-required items such as air filters and the cooling package.
How often should I change the hydraulic oil on a John Deere 325G?
Drain and refill the hydraulic oil every 1,000 hours and replace the hydraulic oil filter every 500 hours. Deere's guide lists 7.0 gal (26.5 L) of Hydrau hydraulic and hydrostatic oil.
When is the planetary oil changed on a John Deere 325G?
After the first 50 hours, then every 1,000 hours, per Deere's chart.
