First aid kit checklist for shops, sites and vehicles
Updated · Reviewed by Israel Margulies, founder and CEO of High Point GPS
A checklist to restock a workplace or vehicle first aid kit: each item, how many the kit should hold, how many are there and when they expire, checked and signed each month.
OSHA 1910.151(b) requires adequate first aid supplies to be readily available, and trained people to give first aid when there's no clinic or hospital close by. Kits empty out quietly: a few bandages used here, gloves taken there, until the kit is useless when someone needs it.
Check each kit against its own contents list and the ANSI/ISEA Z308.1 class it was sold as, and add what your hazards call for. This checklist tracks the count and the dates; it isn't medical or legal advice.

Fill it in the right way
- List every item from the kit's contents list with the quantity it should hold.
- Count what's there and note expiry dates.
- Restock missing or expired items the same day.
- Check the kit's case, location and the posted emergency numbers.
- Sign and date the sheet and keep it with the kit.
Tips
- Put one person in charge of each kit, or each vehicle's kit.
- Check kits after any incident, not just monthly.
- Keep a small stock of the items that run out fastest.
- Add items your work needs, such as burn dressings near hot work or eye wash where chemicals are used.
Do it in FleetZap
- Put a QR label on each machine or station; people scan it to do a check on their phone without an account.
- Inspection procedures can include pass/fail, reading, photo and signature steps, with required steps that block closing.
- A failed item creates a work order and notifies the right people.
- Inspection and expiry dates can be tracked as compliance items with reminders.
- FleetZap records checks and repairs; it doesn't certify compliance.
